Dark, mysterious, vampires, bloods, relationships. Those are the things that encapsulate The Vampire Diaries. And with The Vampire Diaries, it embraces non-conventional relationships between the various cast members, which makes for some fun. Although the show�s central romance between Stefan and Elena is believable and much easier to stomach, the real fun comes between all the other links between characters, like evil Damon�s soft spot for Elena, older guardian Jenna�s string of creepy exes and, best of all, sweet younger brother Jeremy�s relationship with vampire Anna. Things get even better when werewolves, witches and even ghosts are added to the romantic mix. This just gives viewers a blast! It may take a while but the show eventually figures out what to do with the characters that aren�t the top trifecta of Damon, Elena, and Stefan. Caroline, Matt, and Tyler were underutilized. They made Caroline a vampire. They turned Tyler into a werewolf then a hybrid. And they let Matt in on the supernatural secrets plaguing Mystic Falls. They made Bonnie the witch a more integral player and hooked her up with Jeremy for a while, anyway. The point is it all worked. Yes, they still need to figure out the perfect way to use Alaric but we�ll be patient. And The Vampire Diaries is just surprising us, in a good way. It took us a while to figure out Papa Original was Klaus�s father. We had no idea Klaus couldn�t make his hybrid�s without Elena�s blood. We love that Jeremy�s two exes appeared to him after he died. We�re always happy to see Katherine causing trouble and occasionally coming to the rescue. Indeed, the show has full of surprising affairs. And we should be watching it time to time for the text is just good to be true. But it really does exist.
